What are these .me domain endings popping up on the Internet? Cansomebodyhelp.me?
.me was designated as the Top Level Domain (TLD) for the country of Montenegro in September 2007. Since that time, the government of Montenegro has worked to make .me domains available to individuals and companies around the world. Using accredited .me domain registrar partners, Montenegro has marketed the .me domain and promoted .me as a catchy way to network (theworldof.me) and call others to action (join.me, help.me).
The registry’s so-called premium .me domains are not available for registration through their partner registrars but instead will only be released through auctions or other more selective processes. Beginning on April 23, 2009 and May 14, 2009, and lasting for seven days after those respective dates, the official .me Registry will auction off select .me domains, including:
Whatareyoupitching.me? Another way to secure a .me name is to submit a proposal to the .me Registry outlining the intended use and schedule for development of the domain, and the financial resources available to develop it.
Since April 2008, more than 223,000 .me domains have been registered for various educational, social, and personal uses. One .me rising success story is youand.me, a free online dating site that receives more than 60,000 page views daily.
